"No other college or university would be able to give me the experience that I had here," McQuillin said.
She has been the only player in her class on the team since the beginning of her collegiate career and has been a leader with her experience this season. She understands the importance of playing good teams tough. McQuillin believes making it to the Big East tournament would show the other teams that Syracuse has been a better team than what they think.
"Facing the conference's top team we are not in any way scared or intimidated, but pumped up," SU head coach Jing Pu said.
Cobbina said the Orange is focused on reaching the tournament this year. Even though the young Syracuse team has a bright future, the senior McQuillin has one last opportunity to play for the Big East championship and her teammates aren't about to let her down.
"We all want it to happen this year," Cobbina said. "We are building a nice foundation for next year but we want to make it."
