At about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, an employee of the Veterans Administration Medical Center was robbed at gunpoint, according to a campus safety alert. The victim was approached by an armed man in the Stadium Place parking lot. The suspect demanded money from the victim's wallet and ran away in a westerly direction, according the alert.

"The victim described the suspect as: male; black; early 30s, approximately 5'11" tall; medium build; 170-180 lbs.; unkempt beard, medium skin tone; last seen wearing a dark-colored winter watch cap, dark puffy coat and white sneakers with predominant orange highlights; carrying a black handgun," according to the alert.

Sgt. Ryan Beauford was contacted Tuesday evening but refused to comment further on the issue.
