An Onondaga County grand jury indicted former Syracuse University student Timothy Ginocchetti with one count of second-degree murder on Thursday, according to The Post-Standard.

Ginocchetti, a senior engineering major and Manlius native, was charged with second-degree murder at Manlius Town Court on Aug. 24 after allegedly stabbing his mother to death on the evening of Aug. 23, as reported in The Daily Orange.

He is to be arraigned Monday. At this time, Ginocchetti remains in the county Justice Center jail, where he has been held since the murder charges.

On Aug. 24, Manlius police found the body of his mother, Pamela Ginocchetti, inside the home at 11:30 p.m., after Ginocchetti called 911. Pamela Ginocchetti was pronounced dead on site, and at the request of the police, Ginocchetti left the home and was taken into custody.

On Aug. 29, Ginocchetti's pretrial hearing was waived to the grand jury.

Ginocchetti is the son of John Ginocchetti, formerly of the Fayetteville Fire Department, who died in a house fire in Pompey, N.Y., along with Timothy J. Lynch, on March 7, 2002.

The community raised more than $300,000 to support both the Ginocchetti and Lynch families. Ginocchetti was given a scholarship to attend SU, where he made the dean's list during spring 2006.
