New handbook potentially unconstitutional
The Missouri Student Association at the University of Missouri is rewriting its handbook, which could potentially deem its powers as unconstitutional. The new handbook makes it mandatory for all candidates to show the Board of Elections Commissioners flyers and Web sites before hanging up or posting campaign materials. Steve Concannon, students legal services coordinator, explained to board members that they have the power to restrict the time, place and manner of the materials, but may not have the right to ban material in the pre-approval stage if it doesn't meet guidelines.

Smaller classes for Northeastern
Northeastern University began putting limits to the size of its classes on Monday. The goal for each class is to have a maximum of 20 students. New sections of a class will be created once a class has reached its limit as long as other students still show interest in registering for the particular class. The newly opened sections are planned in similar timeslots as the original classes.

A Harvard University graduate student was beaten and robbed in Cambridge Common last week. He was walking home from the gym when he saw a male urinating on a tree in the park. He was then punched in the head by a different man. Three males assaulted the student and stole his cell phone, credit card, clothes and iPod from his gym bag. The victim refused medical attention even though he had a swollen lip and two bumps on his forehead.

Cornell breaks world record
Cornell University's greek community broke a Guinness World Record Saturday for the most people to carry a baton 100 meters in an ongoing relay. The previous record was 801 people. The eight-hour-long relay was the finale of Cornell's annual Greek Week, celebrated to unite all greek chapters through games. The relay was also a fundraiser for the United Way of Tompkins County. Capital One and Student Management Corps both donated one dollar per lap. The City of Ithaca also set a world record this past summer for biggest human peace sign.
