Delone Carter set to return at running back for SU
Running back Delone Carter has been out with a pulled hamstring since SU's 55-13 loss to Penn State in the third week of the season. Glad to see he's all right and all, but does this really mean anything? Carter was just one part of a three-man rotation at running back and only had 21 carries during the season. And, oh yeah, the Orange plays West Virginia this week. Even in an "off year" at 3-2, the Mountaineers should have no trouble with SU - with Carter or without.

First Year Players chooses "Urinetown" for spring production
The decision comes after an entire summer's worth of deliberation by First Year Players staffers. "Urinetown" will follow last year's FYP production of "Fame." You'd hardly know it from the title, but the show is apparently a satire about corporations, social activism and small-town politics. Really? I thought it was just a distant cousin of "Doo-doo-ville," that excellent Broadway take on religion and politics.

Student Association institutes new policy regarding presidency
After removal of a particular clause from the list of requirements for prospective candidates, no experience is now needed to run for Student Association president. Current SA president Marlene Goldenberg said "by closing ourselves off to the student body, we are certainly not reaching our potential." OK, honestly, who didn't see this coming? In this era of politicians like Gov. Sarah Palin and Sen. Barack Obama, such a precedent was bound to hit SU eventually.

Phillies, Dodgers face off in NLCS
Philadelphia advanced after winning its first postseason series in 15 years against the Milwaukee Brewers, while Los Angeles swept the favored Chicago Cubs in the first round. The Dodgers reached the playoffs despite winning just 84 games on the season, and the team hasn't won the World Series since 1988. The Phillies has won a grand total of five postseason series in its history. Let the battle of futility begin.

Madonna blasts Sarah Palin during concert
The material girl took a swipe at the Republican vice president candidate during an early show on her Sticky & Sweet tour of the United States. At one point, she shouted out "Sarah Palin can't come to my party. Sarah Palin can't come to my show." Wow. Two opposite ends of the spectrum going head-to-head for relevance. Hillbilly governor tries to tell Americans she's got what it takes while aging pop star tries to re-assert herself.
