It is unknown whether or not Devendorf, a fourth-year junior, will hire an agent. If he does not, Devendorf has until June 15 to withdraw his name from the draft and still maintain his final year of eligibility.
Pete Moore, Syracuse's director of athletic communications, said he was unaware of Devendorf officially declaring and had no comment.
When reached at the family's home in Bay City, Mich., Devendorf's mother, Cindy, declined comment.
Devendorf, a junior guard, was Syracuse's second leading scorer this season with 15.7 points per game. He appealed for and was granted a fifth year after tearing his ACL 10 games into the 2007-08 season.
Devendorf led the Orange in 3-point shooting in 2008-09 with a 39 percent clip. He started 28 of Syracuse's 36 games.
In December, Devendorf was suspended for two games by the university for his role in a verbal altercation with a female student. The suspension originally issued by the university's judicial board was for the remainder of the season, but after Devendorf appealed, it was reduced.

Anytime you have the chance to draft such a can't-miss prospect like Devendorf, you got to do it. Who wouldn't want a guy that plays tenacious defense every possession, crashes the boards with reckless abandon, plays hard every night even when he isn't getting touches and does all the little things to make a team great? Oh wait. (Continued…)

haha It must be something that is pushing him towards the draft because it is not his game. He'll be lucky if he sniffs the second round. Nick Calathes who is miles ahead of Devendorf is projected as a mid second round pick, so what does that tell you? No one on this team is ready for the NBA except Jonny Flynn and even with that he's a mid to late first round pick. (Continued…)

Devendorf plans on declaring for the NBA? That's a laugh for all the reasons Matt set forth above. He's such a terrible defender that this may end up helping SU. (Continued…)
