Suffering from a case of the Mondays? CBS believes it has the cure with its Monday night comedy lineup. With popular favorites such as "How I Met Your Mother," "Two and a Half Men," "The Big Bang Theory" and its newest addition, "Accidentally on Purpose," the network's fall schedule is looking for laughs.
For those too impatient to wait a week for the season premieres, CBS is bringing its programming to Syracuse University tonight in Gifford Auditorium at 8 p.m. University Union is hosting CBS and Pepsi's "Monday to the Max," an exclusive sneak-peak screening of Monday's comedy lineup.
"We've never done this before on campus," said Darren Goldberg, president of University Union. "I thought it was an excellent opportunity. (CBS knows) that we have a lot of great programs on campus and we have a great student body, so this would be one of the best locations to do it."
In addition to sneak peaks of returning CBS favorites, students will also have the opportunity to watch the full pilot of "Accidentally on Purpose," Goldberg said.
"Accidentally on Purpose" stars Jenna Elfman, of "Dharma and Greg" fame, as a 30-something movie critic who finds herself pregnant after a fling with a much younger man.
CBS hopes that the "Monday to the Max" event will appeal to college students. "That's their target," said Goldberg. "It's supposed to attract anybody who enjoys television on campus."
There are mixed reviews among students about whether it is worth going to the screening of the new pilot.
"If it's anything like the movie 'Knocked Up', I would like it," said Mary Wilson, a senior political science major.
Other students, like Alexandra Milstein, a freshman acting major, disagreed.
"It sounds like a horrible idea for a show," she said. "I've seen it so many times before."
The CBS Monday-night comedy lineup begins Monday, Sept. 21 at 8 p.m. with the season five premiere of "How I Met Your Mother."
