Celebrity fashion faux paus ruin reputations years later

Fashion is all about taking risks and showing off your own sense of style. It's both a curse and a blessing for celebrities' red carpet style to be so closely criticized by the media. They're either praised for their sleek and sophisticated attire, or criticized for their fashion faux pas. Unfortunately for the stars, the media tends to remember mistakes more often than they do successes.
For me, making popcorn and cuddling up for the red carpet pre-show is the best way to start off an awards show night. It's so unpredictable. Sometimes celebrities strut down the tinted runway in flawless gowns and crisp suits. Other times, fashion calamities straight out of Courtney Love's closest make their way down the catwalk.
MTV's Video Music Awards aren't known for being the classiest event in Hollywood, but its attendees are required to wear clothes. Apparently, Lil' Kim didn't get that message. Year after year (when she's not in prison), this rapping fugitive forgets to cover up. Most memorably, at the 1999 show, Kim showed up sans half of her top. While presenting an award, Kim's free lady lump was groped by Diana Ross and is thus the star of one of the most memorable VMA moments of all time. I guess that's one way of staying relevant.
Lil' Kim isn't the only provocative fashion offender the VMAs have seen. Believe it or not, the lovely Rose McGowan hasn't always been too lovely. In 1998, Rose showed up to the awards show alongside super-creep Marilyn Manson wearing a very sheer, very backless dress... if it can be called that. The barely-there ensemble was held together by a few strings along McGowan's back, leaving her leopard thong extremely visible. In similar taste, Snoop Dogg walked in with two women on a leash as his dates in 2003. Let's just say they looked anything but classy.
The Oscars have experienced their own share of fashion disasters. In 2001, singer/actress Bjork donned a dress with a feathery bodice and a swan collar. Even worse was Demi Moore in 1989. I don't care what decade it is, spandex shorts paired with half a skirt and pointy pumps that make you look like a vampire, will never be an acceptable fashion combination.
