An "Animal House" poster, a giant Keystone Light flag, an image of Bob Marley and various other furnishings reminiscent of college decorate the walls of Matt Maillet's apartment. Enter his room, however, and the overwhelming music inclination becomes apparent.

Balancing sideways next to his desk stands a full-size keyboard. A "Rolling Stone" calendar showcasing various bands hangs over the closet door. A collage of concert tickets, and various concert T-shirts from the likes of O.A.R., the Dave Matthews Band and Bruce Springsteen, occupy the wall above the headboard of his bed.

Amidst this musical room Maillet, a senior finance and entrepreneurship and emerging enterprises major, lounges in his computer chair in a long-sleeve fleece, blue jeans and tied loafers. This is not the white, T-shirt and red sweatpants outfit of well known mash-up artist Girl Talk, but when Maillet adopts a new identity, as DJ Moondance, he lays down tracks that could compete with even the most famous of disc jockeys.

Maillet has been asked to play live at multiple universities across the country, offering payment and airfare as well. However, Maillet is not quite ready for the live music scene. So until Maillet gets the experience and programs needed to brave the live scene, mashing remains a hobby.

"A program that requires live mixing is a whole beast of its own and I don't really want to just go play a show and hit 'play' and just pretend I'm up there, because good mash DJs, if they are on stage, are still live mixing," said Maillet.

Maillet has always been a "concert person" but it was not until he attended the four-day Bonnaroo festival in 2005, and saw Girl Talk perform, that he considered mixing his own music.

"It's just this dude sitting on his laptop, like this huge geek, and he absolutely killed it. Everybody loved it from the hippies, the older people, and the young kids," Maillet said. "I remember leaving and I was like, 'this is so cool, I want to do it when I get back.'"
