A car driven by Syracuse football player Andrew Tiller was rear-ended early Sunday morning near Lenox, N.Y., New York State Trooper Jack Keller said Tuesday afternoon. Police do not suspect alcohol was involved in the accident, which occurred at 5:30 a.m.

Former wide receiver Mike Williams, who quit the team Monday, was also in the car with Tiller, along with two other SU players: backup running back Antwon Bailey and backup defensive end Torrey Ball.

Tiller was taken to University Hospital Sunday for neck pain but does not face any criminal charges, Keller said.

Williams, Ball and Bailey did not suffer any injuries. They also do not face any charges.

The man who rear-ended Tiller, Nathan Primrose, of Clyde, N.Y., was not charged at the scene but may be charged later, Keller said.

SU head coach Doug Marrone announced Monday that Williams came into his office that morning and informed him of his decision to quit the team. Marrone said he did not know why Williams left the program.

Bailey, Ball and Tiller are all suspended by Marrone for violating team rules for Syracuse's game Saturday against Pittsburgh, according to a statement issued by SU Athletics Tuesday afternoon.

An athletic department spokeswoman declined to provide further details or comment on the suspensions.
